David Allen Green

Lawyer and writer

Humanism is about valuing humanity as an end in itself.  Whilst secularism is mainly - and rightly - concerned with countering the claims of religion over morality and public policy, humanism provides the appropriate basis for the way we lead our lives free from any belief in gods, angels, prophets, souls, sacred texts, afterlives, and so on.

One hopes that future generations will see the use of superstition and the paranormal as any guide to human conduct as absurd.  But right now there is a debate, and so it is important that all good and godless people do what they can to promote humanism as the basis of ethics and politics.  This is why I am proud to support the British Humanist Association.
