Equality Project and Resources
In March 2008 the BHA received funding from the Equality and Human Rights Commission to run a project exploring issues regarding ‘religion or belief’ equality and human rights work. The project had the stated aim of ‘increasing understanding of issues of "religion or belief" in the context of equalities and human rights within the voluntary sector, media and general public.’
The project was made up of many different aspects including:
- 4 large day conferences for equality and human rights practitioners in the public and voluntary sectors
- A guidance document which covered issues such as employment and equality policies
- A ‘state of the nation’ report researching current practice in the ‘religion or belief’ field of equalities
- A Training Toolkit available for use by people working with equality issues in the public and voluntary sector
- A survey into the knowledge and needs of people working in the ‘religion or belief’ equality field
