Affiliated Humanist Groups
Socialising. Learning together. Setting out to make a difference.
|
Numerous Local, Student and Special Interest Humanist Groups affiliate to the British Humanist Association from across the UK.
These groups are independent and autonomous but affiliate to us to show that they fall under the humanist umbrella and that they agree with our overall purpose as an organisation. No two groups are exactly like. Each Humanist Group develops its own programme and its own ethos depending on the interests and motivations of the organisers and group members. |

What do Humanist Groups do?
- Social events
- Educational events (talks, debates, tours, film showings, ethical juries...)
- Local campaigning and activism (for example lobbying local authorities on secularist concerns)
- Promotional events for the BHA (for example running a stall)
- Voluntary or other charitable work
The best groups will hold a varied itinerary in order to satisfy the wide range of reasons which have attracted their members to humanism.
Special Interest Groups campaign on specific issues, or represent the interests of a specific sub-set of humanists.
