Promote membership

October 2010 is a membership drive month and there are prizes to be won!

Several of our Distinguished Supporters are specially signing copies of their latest books, DVDs and other merchandise, and it’s all up for grabs. Two lucky winners will win the whole set, and there are dozens of smaller prizes to be won as well.

Half of the prizes will go to randomly selected new members joining during the month and the other half will go to existing members who help spread the word about the BHA.

New members

Everyone who joins in October will be entered into the prize draw. (You can then qualify a second time by carrying out any of the promotional actions for existing members below, increasing your chance of winning - though you can only win once.)

Existing members

There are several ways you can help to promote membership of the BHA this month. Some qualifying actions you can take follow below. (If you take more than one action you will increase your chances of winning.)

NB: All the actions below only qualify you for the prize draw if you are a member of the BHA.

 

Email or share our pages

At the top of the sidebar on every page of this website is a "Share this page" button. You can use this to email, or share to a social networking site, any page that you think will be of interest to a friend. This includes the front page or the Join page. If you use some popular email services you can even give the "Share this page" button permission to load up your contacts to make it easier.

If you take this action then email membership@humanism.org.uk with "I shared" as the subject line and one sentence about why you shared that particular page, to qualify for the prize draw.

 

Join our social network and share the news

The BHA is on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. You can connect online then post a link to your wall or tweet about our work.

 You could link to www.humanism.org.uk/join or re-post one of our recent news stories. Let people know you are a member.

If you take this action you can share content with your Facebook Friends from our page at www.facebook.com/humanism to qualify for the prize draw. Use the words “British Humanist Association” in your post. (You don’t have to become a Fan of the page this month – whether you’re already a Fan or a new Fan you can win just by sharing a link from our Wall.) OR find a page you like on our site and share it via Twitter. Use the words “I’m a member” and make sure you include our Twitter name @BHANews in your tweet to qualify for the prize draw.

 

Request membership forms

Perhaps you have like-minded humanist friends, or you attend a local humanist group, or any other group, society or club. You can request information and membership forms from the BHA to pass on to your friends and contacts.

 Call us on 020 7079 3580 or email info@humanism.org.uk with “Leaflets” in the subject line and ask us to send you membership leaflets (perhaps a couple if you think you have a few interested friends, or a dozen if you belong to a local society or attend an evening class or similar!)

If you take this action we’ll add your existing membership number to the leaflets before sending them out to you. Those that come back with a new joiner will qualify you for the prize draw.

 

Add a signature block to your email

If you send email or use online forums, you could add a discrete message to your signature block.

 Example signatures:

• Proud to be a member of the British Humanist Association.
• I'm a member of the British Humanist Association, the national charity supporting and representing people who seek to live good lives without religious or superstitious beliefs.
• "Humanists are atheists and agnostics who make sense of the world using reason, experience and shared human values." – British Humanist Association.

If you take this action send an email including the signature to membership@humanism.org.uk with the words “Signature block” in the subject to qualify for the prize draw.

 

Add a button or a banner to your website

If you run a website or blog you can support the BHA by displaying a button or banner which links to humanism.org.uk.

You can right-click and save the ads below to your own computer to upload to your website. Alternatively you can use the quick code provided to hotlink to the images on our server.

If you take this action then email membership@humanism.org.uk with the words “Banner added” in the subject and a link to your site in the email body to qualify for the prize draw.
